Redondo beach is a great example of how a little detour can have a huge payoff. If you just veer off Highway one, off an easy to miss street, you’ll find a lovely secluded beach. Don’t be surprised to have this place all to yourself.
What you need to know
- Best time to visit is during sunset.
- Access to the beach is a very steep, difficult climb. There are no available stairs.
- This is a dog-friendly beach, so bring your furry friends along for some beach time.
- Traffic along Hwy 1 and route 92 can be horrendous on the weekends.

The beach is located 0.5 miles south of Half Moon Bay on Highway 1 (about an hour south of San Francisco). Turn right on Redondo Beach Road and travel to the end until you get to a small dirt parking lot.
